RETAILOBSERVER.COM FEBRUARY 2024 6 Moe Lastfogel Moe's Musings Views I hope to see you 2024 at these great events, We proudly support the following trade associations and buying groups throughout North America whose news and information greatly contribute to the quality of The Retail Observer and the education of our readers. THE RETAIL Follow us on: Join us at: Become a Fan: A s you get ready for the next few months, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and the International Builders Show (IBS) have decided to co-locate again in Las Vegas in 2024 for the 10th Anniversary of DCW. All I have to say is: it's been BRILLIANT!!! Ok, that's not all I have to say. I attend approximately 20+ conventions a year and this is a great opportunity for the industry to meet, learn and grow your business opportunities. What does this co-branding mean and how is it going to affect the industry. Large manufacturers have come back, which of course will bring the medium-sized manufacturers back, giving the smaller manufacturers more attendees to talk to. Why do I say this? Well, because so many people have complained in the past that if the big guys aren't there, why go? The big, medium, and small guys complained that not enough people were going, as well as the high-cost factor. I see the combination of these shows again in Vegas as the answer to many objections. Two shows, one ticket and zero complaints. They both have great exhibitors lists and the diversity of education and networking that this opportunity brings. Let's face it—what better place than Vegas? Airfares are reasonable, rooms rates aren't thru the roof, food and entertainment abound. This is huge for the industry. Also in February are the Hearth, Patio & Barbeque Expo (HPBE) in Nashville and the ASTI 2024 (Annual Service Training Institute) in Vegas. March brings the buy fairs from BrandSource and Nationwide to Vegas. The Inspired Home Show will be in Chicago again and the National Hardware Show will take place in Vegas. These are all great shows to visit and get new product info and your education on. Ok, so no more excuses from anyone, please. It's time to back up what you have been saying and put your money where your mouth is. 2024 is the start of something special, and as an Industry we all need to support it. One last thing, these associations and shows spend lots of money to make this happen, so if you're going to show your product, please do it at the show and not at an unofficial offsite location. All you're doing is showing your lack of support to the people that are supporting you and riding on some else's hard work. Really, would you want another manufacturer to roll a truck up in front of your showroom or factory and start peddling their wares in your parking lot? SHOW SEASON IS UPON US AGAIN
