As a traditional landscape and wildlife artist, I paint nature as I see it: colorful, lively, and realistic. I enjoy sharing my experiences with nature through my paintings. Affixed • 9" x 12" Soft Pastel on Sanded Paper Dana Zier, a featured artist and 6th generation Montanan, extends her canvas to encompass oil paintings, murals, and the detailed art of linoleum reduction prints. She shares her multifaceted artistic journey, spanning oil painting, mural creation, and, recently, linoleum reduction prints. Her work, deeply rooted in both visual and historical themes, draws from a rich Montana heritage and her direct experiences with the landscape. Zier recounts, "I'm also really drawn to historical subjects," reflecting on her connection to Montana's Pryor Mountains. Her dedication to plein-air painting is evident in works like Misty Meadow, inspired by the natural beauty encountered in her explorations. Zier, who also operates her gallery in Bridger, Montana, looks forward to the communal spirit of Western Art Week, likening it to "meeting family at a reunion." Jack Cantrell, another valued member of this artistic family, brings a unique narrative to the group. Aer returning to his native Great Falls in 2013, Cantrell, a self-taught artist, developed a newfound appreciation for watercolors, a medium he once avoided. His current portfolio, During last year's event, artists and family members involved in the "Footprints on the Trail" art show left their mark by adding footprints or handprints to the show's canvas, a gesture aimed at fostering inclusion and extending a warm welcome to artists new to the show.
