For printing filament, use PETG or PETG Pro with print parameters 40% infill and 0.2 mm layer height. Print the motor mount with the flat side one on the base (Figure 5). Add support under the rotor mount, as pictured, using your slicer tools to selectively add sup- ports for best results. Print the wing with small edge of the fin on the build plate. Filaments like Nylon-X or Polycarbonate are likely more optimal than PETG as they provide greater strength. So if you can print these instead of PETG, it would be well worth it. SPORT ROCKETRY MAY/JUNE 2024 17 Motor mount assembly 1. Cut the 24-mm tube to 2.5 inches in length. e motor tube should extend ΒΌ inch on each side of the motor mount. 2. Sand inside of 3D printed part, so that cardboard tube slide- fits snugly. 3. Use a good-grade epoxy. is will get warm from the burn- ing motor, so you want an excellent epoxy or JB weld. Note! 5-minute epoxy will be insufficient, so do not use it. 4. Glue the motor block in the top end of the 24-mm motor tube. 5. Glue the motor tube into the mount, ensuring the motor block is pointing up. 6. Support while drying so that the tube does not slide under gravity. Assembly of wing to motor mount In this next section, you will securely glue the wing into the mo- tor mount. e monocopter will spin quickly, creating substantial forces on the wing and motor mount joint. To support these forces, you will want to glue this carefully with a good grade of epoxy. To enhance Quickly Locate Your Downed Rocket in MINUTES!
