Rhythms of Heritage 86 | SIGNATURE MONTANA Celebrating Native Arts and Advancing Financial Empowerment During Western Art Week in Great Falls, the Celebration of Native Plains Artists becomes a focal point, where the thundering beat of drums fills the air, echoing the ancient rhythms that have long guided Native dancers. As they move with deliberate and powerful steps, the bells adorning their ankles chime in rhythmic harmony, each tone weaving through the ages. Seated in a ceremonial circle, drummers share their instruments and voices in songs steeped in tradition, craing a soundscape that transcends time. With eyes closed, one might easily imagine themselves transported to a distant era. Yet, upon looking, the scene unfolds as a vivid tableau of the Native American journey, melding historical reverence with contemporary reality. By Colter Pedersen | Photography Michael Noel
