residents in the area. There's nothing else like Brooklyn Fare in this neighborhood." In addition to prepared foods, including sushi, the store will offer an assortment of natural and organic products, fresh produce delivered five days a week, and fresh bread delivered daily. Other grocery stores serving the area include a handful of small independents, a C-Town supermarket, and a Trader Joe's that opened in 2018, all about a half mile or more away from the new Brooklyn Fare. The residential development containing the new store, called One Manhattan Square, reflects the gentrification of the area. The 800- foot "supertall" glass tower offers both water and skyline views and over 100,000 square feet of private indoor and outdoor amenities, according to retail development firm Extell. It includes 814 residential units, priced from $1.2 million to $13 million, according to a report in The Village Sun. As part of the project, a 13-story affordable housing building was constructed next to the tower, according to the report. Brooklyn Fare will offer exclusive perks to residents of the luxury building, including free delivery with a $10 minimum order, and free coffee on the first day of every month. In collaboration with Experience by Extell, the developer's in-house lifestyle management service, the Brooklyn Fare catering department will also offer a gourmet catering service for residents of the building. Event packages could include Thanksgiving boxes, Fourth of July barbecue baskets, wine and cheese pairings, tea baskets with finger sandwiches and scones, birthday party packages and others, available for delivery to residences or to activity spaces within the building. —Mark Hamstra Brooklyn Fare Kitchen & Market 227 CHERRY STREET MANHATTAN 7 A.M. TO 10 P.M. The store offers a variety of prepared foods, a deli, a coffee bar, and the largest meat department of any of its stores, a spokesperson for Brooklyn Fare told Specialty Food. The larger store footprint has allowed the company to expand all of its departments, the spokesperson says. The store is located just a few blocks from Chinatown on the East River waterfront, in an area with few other full-service grocery stores. "We are providing a much-needed service to the residents of the Lower East Side, and that's just awesome—to be able to bring great food and grocery items at affordable prices to the neighborhoods in which we serve," says Moe Issa, owner and founder, Brooklyn Fare. Brooklyn Fare also operates one location in downtown Brooklyn and three on Manhattan's west side, including a store in the Hudson Yards area that is famous for being home to a three- Michelin-starred restaurant, Chef's Table. At the new Lower East Side store, the retailer will tailor its product assortment to meet the demands of the community, the retailer says. "We like to take the approach of first seeing what customers gravitate towards the most, and then fine tuning our offerings to meet those needs," the spokesperson says. "We plan to stock more groceries and ingredients that will resonate with 20 SPECIALTY FOOD SPECIALTYFOOD.COM STORE TOUR PHOTO: BROOKLYN FARE KITCHEN & MARKET
