T
his issue marks 17 years of our team producing The Retail Observer
for our loyal clientele and readers. As economies have boomed and
busted throughout the years, many manufacturers, dealers,
distributors, as well as periodicals have been bought out or faded away into
the sunset.
We'd like to give a big shout out to the Mom-and-Pop shops, independent
dealers and the manufacturers and distributors that support them as this
magazine continues to roll on down the road in good times and bad, with
education and support for our retailers.
Chuck Edmonds and Lee Boucher had worked side by side for 17½ years
in the early days of growing this magazine from its original inception as The
Northen California Retailer in April of 1970, back in the day when this old
"rag" of a magazine was put together via typed page and printed photos,
using scissors and glue sticks. We are still plugging along after 54 years!
Quite an accomplishment in this day and age when very few publications
can say that.
This magazine was built on handshakes, hard work and integrity. These
are the things that make the magazine what it is today. It's no surprise that
the most important ingredient was then, and still is now, our dedication to
nurturing great relationships within the retail appliance, electronics and
plumbing industries.w
As we carry on the tradition of keeping our "Eye on the Industry" for all our
readers, we understand this is your magazine, your industry, and your time
staying up on news and product support for your growing business and
bottom line. We welcome your feedback, ideas, and suggestions. Just drop
me a line to: moe@retailobserver.com.
All of us here at The Retail Observer thank you for your many years of
support as you've travelled alongside us and will continue together on this
journey for many more years into the future. We are proud to contribute,
serve, and pour our hearts into such an iconic piece of retail history.
