area for logging in the mid-to late-1900s, followed soon thereaer by recreationists, who created even more pathways. ough the town of Pipestone no longer exists and the original hot springs resort is closed to the public, the expansive trail network remains. Before heading out into the trail complex, we stopped by Pipestone Rentals and Adventures on Delmoe Lake Road to compare maps of the area and chat with the knowledgeable staff about must-see spots. Since 2021, Pipestone Rentals and Adventures owner Keith Curtis and his team have been renting their sporty two- or four-seat Polaris side-by-sides to outdoor enthusiasts interested in exploring the area. Each SxS in the fleet is equipped with a stereo system and a GPS unit with pre-marked areas of interest located within the complex. "We strive to provide our customers with the most well-maintained, high-end equipment possible," says Curtis, a Dillon native and Polaris Industries snowmobile hill climber who currently holds the most titles ever won in his sport. Curtis and his team run customers through machine overview and safety tutorials before turning them loose on their self-guided expeditions. "ey're geing their helmets on and taking pictures out in the parking lot, and you can just see the anticipation amping up," he says. "People always come back with smiles a mile wide, happy and high-fiving and just loving life, and you can tell they had a great time exploring Pipestone and riding the trails." Curtis says the Pipestone OHV terrain is appropriate for a wide range of riders. "ere are hundreds of miles of fun, flowy trails, and the dirt composition is really great," he notes. "Pipestone is Montana's recreational hotspot and it's a great place to recreate, no maer your skill level or level of experience."
