14 T he political arena of the world is our mission field. Capitol Ministries is working to estab- lish discipleship, Bible-study based ministries at all levels of government in the United States and in foreign nations. We are teaching the Bible every week to city and county public servants, state legislators and constitutional officers, repre- sentatives, senators, governors, policy makers in the U.S., and their counterparts in foreign nations. We are achieving and increasingly expanding this bold objective by recruiting dedicated, Bible- teaching evangelists as ministry leaders. We pair them with Christian public servants who spon- sor the ministries, provide a meeting place inside the government building for weekly studies, and invite their colleagues to attend. Political leaders of all races, political parties, and religious affilia- tions are welcome and participate. Our ministry leaders teach the Scriptures book by book, verse by verse, every week. ey lead in-depth, exegetical Bible studies and pro- vide a careful analysis of passages, discuss histor- ical and cultural context, and explain original Greek and Hebrew words to clarify the author's intended meaning. With a commit- ment to evangelism, ministry leaders lead public servants to the truth and disciple them to matu- rity in the faith. ey also pray with and for pub- lic servants, provide counseling when needed, friendship, and pastoral care.
