MARCH 2025 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 17 THIRD PLACE / SPECIALTY KITCHEN Kate Roos Kate Roos Design, Minneapolis, MN Photo: Andrea Rugg of Andrea Rugg Photography Parkway Butler's Pantry — This butler's pantry was heavily used for barware, fine china, and as a breakfast and coffee bar. Although the layout worked well, the cabinetry was hard to open and close, and the finishes felt tired, dark, and dated. Replacing the cabinetry allowed better access to storage and more customization, including a new banquette, cabinetry inserts, and White Oak finished interiors. A new ice maker, sink, and beverage refrigerator offer increased function for everyday as well as entertaining. Soft blue wallpaper, pale neutral cabinetry, new and improved lighting, and a large mirror create a space that feels bright, cheerful, and comfortable. Design Solutions: • Interior supports in wall cabinetry to allow for wider doors, customized base cabinetry with storage inserts, and new full-extension drawer guides keep interiors accessible, and a new banquette with a custom tabletop is durable, beautiful, and comfortable. • Both 15" wide, the ice maker and beverage refrigerator flank a carefully selected sink and 15"-wide sink base cabinet, all with cabinetry paneled fronts for a seamless look. • Painted cabinetry and soapstone countertops are consistent with the kitchen, while a soft blue wallpaper with birds and botanicals gives the space a completely fresh look. Corbels mirroring the kitchen and dining room profile also grace the butler's pantry. A large mirror with new sconces reflects light from the window and visually opens up the space.
