THE RUSSELL
of Sam and Elaine Rosenthal, this year's auction showcases not
only exceptional Russell pieces but also the most comprehensive
collection of his contemporaries we've ever offered," says Executive
Director Tom Braaten.
Securing a spot in this prestigious auction is no easy feat. Each
artwork must pass through a fiercely competitive submission and
selection process. From nearly 1,000 entries, only about 300 lots
make the cut. "e competition is just really high, and as a result,
the quality of the artwork is always sky-high," Braaten adds. With
such an impressive number of pieces available, a third auction
event has been added this year, taking place entirely online.
e Art Preview Party kicks off the festivities on ursday night
at the C.M. Russell Museum, where every auction item is on
display alongside historic works. e gallery buzzes with energy
as artists, patrons, and Russell enthusiasts gather to admire the
stunning collection. "e installation is just dynamite," Braaten
says. is exclusive exhibition offers the community a rare chance
to see these works up close—many of which may never be on
public display again.
A true fan favorite, Art in Action takes center stage on Friday
morning at the Meadowlark Country Club. is lively event puts
a Western twist on the traditional quick draw, with 26 artists
bringing their creations to life right before the crowd's eyes. Once
finished, each piece goes straight to auction and is sold on the
spot. e best part? Every brushstroke and every bid benefits the
museum, as the artists generously donate their time and talent,
ensuring Russell's legacy rides on for generations to come.
