Another standout artist at this year's show is Elyssa Leininger, a seasoned painter who has been exhibiting at Footprints on the Trail for the past five years. Leininger's work is deeply rooted in her love for Montana and the Western lifestyle, a passion that first emerged while studying abroad in Italy. "Even there, surrounded by stunning European art and architecture, I painted scenes of the American West," she recalls. Painting from the heart rather than photographs, she finds endless inspiration in Montana's rugged landscapes, brilliant skies, and resilient wildlife. Leininger's latest work, "Prairie under," is a dramatic large-scale bison painting that took countless hours to complete. "I use the tiniest brushes available and, sometimes, single bristles to create individual hairs, eyelashes, pine needles, and blades of grass," she explains. Another favorite piece, "Canyon Overlook," captures a cowboy admiring the breathtaking view of Bighorn Canyon, a place that has always filled her with awe. Her meticulous aention to detail and dedication to accurately portraying the natural world make her work stand out. "e more time and work I put into a piece, the more I feel connected to it," she says, emphasizing her deep passion for capturing the essence of the West. Visitors can expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter, discovery, and a deep appreciation for art. "It's fun, light-hearted, entertaining, and informative," McClellan says. "We want everyone to leave with excitement and satisfaction." Whether you're a seasoned collector or a curious newcomer, you'll find something to ignite your imagination and remind you of the enduring beauty of the West. Amidst a gallery of Western wonder, artist Karen Elkan shares the stories behind her work, turning casual conversations into journeys through time, texture, and tradition at the Footprints on the Trail Art Show.
