LEGENDS WEST ART SHOW
Where Western Tradition Meets Bold New Frontiers
legends in the making
By Colter Pedersen
Legends West, one of four distinguished shows at Montana ExpoPark under
e Great Western Show banner, is perhaps the most traditional of the group.
is show is a haven for collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the timeless
beauty of fine art paintings and masterfully cast bronzes. But Legends West
is no mere retrospective—it's a dynamic blend of classic crasmanship and
contemporary edge, where bold artistic voices push the boundaries of
Western expression.
Organizer Hope Good sees this shi as part of a broader movement in
Western artistry. She explains, "In the art world, we are all leaning that way to a
point. You can't just have the traditional Western anymore because the public
wants more. I love the difference. Traditional is great, but if you just have a
show that is all the same, it's not very exciting."
With deep roots in Western Art Week, painter Jack Babcock traces his artistic
journey back to Great Falls, where he first found his footing among some of
the genre's most revered creators. "Great Falls is where I kind of broke into
it," Babcock recalls. "You are around these world-class artists, which is always
encouraging and makes you want to learn more." at immersive experience
not only shaped his cra but also solidified his place in the Western art world.
