MARCH IN MONTANA AUCTION & DEALER SHOW MARCH IN MONTANA AUCTION & DEALER SHOW
38 • portfolio
Despite the digital age, March in Montana stays true to the tactile
experience of fine art, producing a full-color catalog each year and
distributing thousands of copies to eager collectors. "Our goal is to
get people here—it's just a really fun event," says Ron Nicklas, who
organizes the show alongside his wife, Tori. "We firmly believe in
puing bus in seats, geing people in to see the artwork in person,
and truly appreciating the perspective and crasmanship firsthand."
Experiencing art in person offers an entirely different impact—
especially when it comes to scale. "A lot of times people come in and
say, 'at painting is a lot bigger than I thought,' because they are
just looking in a catalog or online," says Ron Nicklas. Seeing a work
firsthand allows collectors to fully appreciate its presence, texture,
and depth—elements that can't always be captured through a screen
or printed page.
is year's show is nothing short of monumental, featuring an
impressive 754 pieces, each displayed in the historic Elks Lodge for
aendees to admire before they hit the auction block. "is year, we
have been fortunate to have about half a dozen different collections
come in from around the country—Illinois, Minnesota, California,
Arizona. We've just had some really quality works come in from
those places," Nicklas shares. "We have been working on a couple of
them for a while."
