Scandi Retreat — The objective of this
project was to design a space where the clients
feel Zen-like peace reminiscent of luxurious
hotels on their honeymoon in Iceland.
Challenges:
• Keep the door that opens to the backyard.
• Curbless shower with large-format tile.
• High linen closet with custom hand-made
oak slats.
Design Solutions:
• Add an exterior door with frosted glass panel
for privacy.
• Cut the large-format tile and pitch it toward the
drain, creating a seamless look.
• Separate the toilet area from the main areas
by installing a large custom linen closet to
divide the space.
• Incorporate a large full-length frameless mirror
into the door of the custom linen closet so it
can be hidden when not in use.
• Install a single glass panel to give the shower a
sleek look.
• Floor-to-ceiling tile to emphasize the tall
ceilings.
• LED mirrors to add lighting at the vanity.
Special Features:
• Custom linen closet with white oak slats and a
touch-latch door that opens to a full length
mirror and 3" thick floating shelves.
• Long shower and tub niches with LED lighting.
• TOTO integrated smart toilet, full-length tile-in
linear drain, oversized rain head.
• Custom white oak wall-to-wall floating vanity.
• Custom hidden reeded glass and metal
pocket door.
