April 2026 By David and Heidi Clausen As we sit down to write this column, the temperature is struggling to get to the freezing point, after being at 70 degrees a couple days back. The spring roller-coaster is underway here in northwest Wisconsin. Hopefully, by the time you receive this magazine, many of you will be into fieldwork. We've had a couple opportunities to get away from the daily grind this winter, including a weekend at the Wisconsin State FFA Alumni and Supporters Convention in Middleton. Pictured here is our contingent from Section I. We had a great time with fellow Alumni, including our two "kids," who joined us for parts of the event (not pictured). Fun fact: Several members of the state council are Allis-Chalmers collectors and/or receive Old Allis News. Per usual, the A-C toys did very well on the fundraiser auction. Spring work means show season can't be far behind. We're looking forward to catching up with everyone at the two Gathering of the Orange events, in Illinois and Ohio this summer. We'll also see you at the Allis Connection Show at its new location in Kalona, Iowa, and the Orange Spectacular in Hutchinson, Minn. You might see us at some other events, as well. You can find more details on these events elsewhere in this edition. If you've never attended a GOTO, try to pencil one in this year. You won't regret it, and you'll meet some really great people. Also within this issue, you'll notice a bit of an unintended dealership theme. Take the time to read our feature on two Iowa dealerships and one in New York, as well as a Hall of Fame reprinted article on a dealership in Tennessee. We also have another installment on the Lynn ranch, a story about A-C rock crushers and columnist Jim Palmer Jr.'s write-up about A-C and MacDon teaming up on draper heads in the 1980s.
