Greetings, Allis-Chalmers collectors. I am sadly announcing a sale/show open house at the original home of the Orange Spectacular for 20 years. Since the show is no longer held at my farm, it is time for me to lighten my load of tractors, machinery, signs and memorabilia. My legs are failing me, so I must reduce my collection because I can no longer bring everything to the fairgrounds show site. My entire remaining collection will be on display, plus many pieces from Curt Anderson's collection. There will be 26 A-C tractors and many pieces of memorabilia on display. There will be restrooms available on the farm and also light refreshments. Please come and join us in celebrating the 35 years of the Orange Spectacular. For those of you who have not been to the farm where the show was held, the directions are as follows: Three miles west of Hutchinson, Minn., on Highway 7 and 22, turn left at 200th Street and it's the first driveway to the left. Watch for A-C signs. We are only five miles to the northwest of the fairgrounds. Plenty of parking. A steady rumble will echo along historic Route 66 on June 20 as a tractor drive celebrates the 100th anniversary of the route. The drive will depart at 9:30 a.m. from the Litchfield Museum and Route 66 Welcome Center located along Historic Route 66 in Litchfield, Ill. It is sponsored by the Mid-State Collectors Club in that area. Dozens of tractors — some freshly polished, others proudly weathered by decades of work — will take part in the Route 66 Tractor Drive, which will blend nostalgia and community pride with a celebration of America's agricultural roots. Route 66, known as the Mother Road Across America, stretches for 2,448 miles across eight states, from Chicago, Ill., to Santa Monica, Calif. Participants of the June 20 tractor drive from Litchfield will travel 35 miles, viewing three different iconic sections of Route 66 — years 1927-30, years 1930-40 and years 1940-77. The registration fee for the drive is $10, including snacks at a rest area and lunch. All brands of tractors are welcome to participate in this special event. Jay Niemann of Litchfield will lead the drive aboard his 1957 Allis-Chalmers WD45 tractor, which he had taken apart down to the small bolt, sandblasting, priming and painting each part before rebuilding the tractor completely and adding new parts where needed. On Sept. 11, 2021, the WD45 was among 1,370 tractors participating in the annual Antique Mackinaw Bridge Crossing at Mackinaw, Mich. The 2026 tractor drive marks the centennial of the highway and is designed to bring fans of agriculture, vintage machinery and the iconic road together for a unique celebration.
