The Buckeye Allis Club and Antique Power Club of Clinton County will host their first Gathering of the Orange Sept. 11-13 as part of the 48th Clinton County Corn Festival in Wilmington, Ohio. The show will be held at the Clinton County Fairgrounds, 268 S. Nelson Ave. The GOTO feature will be outdoor power products and Genset power units. Organizers also will use the GOTO to celebrate the Buckeye Allis Club's 30th anniversary. Buckeye Allis will host a two-day tractor drive Sept. 9-10 from Zanesville, Ohio, to the GOTO. Contact Brad McCune for more information. While the show officially opens Sept. 11, move- in and set-up can start as early as Monday, Sept 7. Club members will be on-site to assist in parking and unloading as needed all week. The show grounds have a limited number of camping spots with water and electric hook-ups. To reserve a spot, call Melissa Brown at (937) 992-4453. Antique Power Club has planned a full weekend of events and demonstrations, including two sawmills, rock crushing, Friday and Saturday tractor pulls and a Sunday garden tractor pull, along with various tractor games. They also have a dedicated engine building, the centerpiece being a 200-horsepower Fairbanks Morse four-cylinder engine. Last year's show drew more than 300 tractors and engines for display. A downtown parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, with Allis-Chalmers exhibitors leading, after the color guard. The show has a long-standing tradition of only allowing local food vendors, with 28 different vendors last year, mostly civic organizations from the immediate area. They also had more than 150 flea market, antique and craft vendors. The Clinton County Corn Festival prides itself on being a family destination with plenty to do for the whole family. The Girl Scouts host a "Children's Corner" tent dedicated to activities for kids. For the older kids and adults, there is a full schedule of games with prizes on Saturday and Sunday. Musical entertainment will be offered Friday and Saturday nights, along with the Clinton County favorite "Corn Olympics" Saturday evening. The Buckeye Allis Club will host a banquet Saturday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Dove Church, 1499 Rombach Ave., Wilmington. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. A buffet dinner of roasted pork loin and Tuscan chicken will be served. Tickets are $30 per guest and may be purchased at www.buckeyeallisclub.com/ banquet through Sept. 1. If mailing registration, send no later than Aug. 21. Gates will open at 8 a.m. daily. Entry is $5 per day or $10 for the weekend. Children under 12 are free. Exhibitors are asked to join the Antique Power Club for insurance purposes and will be reimbursed for their admission when they join. Memberships include weekend passes and a show plaque. Cost is $20 (family, two adults and children under 12); youth and single memberships are $15. The show is located in the center of three metro areas, offering many sightseeing opportunities. Wilmington is an hour or less away from Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. Dayton is home to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Base, and Columbus and Cincinnati both offer many top-rated parks, museums, zoo and aquariums. There already has been great interest in the GOTO feature area from vendors, and several tents have been reserved to accommodate them. Those interested in having a spot in the tents as a vendor or A-C club should contact Larry Mayer at (740) 505-0226 or larry@mayerfarmequipment.com. There also will be a large area available for used parts and swap meet items. To reserve a spot there, contact Dale Mayer at (740) 505-0227 or dale@ mayerfarmequipment.com.
