JUNE 2026 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 17 U N I V E R S A L D E S I G N B AT H CATALYST CONSTRUCTION, INC. AUSTIN, TEXAS With Team Member Beth Weldon Design The homeowners requested a complete remodel of their first-floor hall bathroom. As retirees who love their home and community, they expressed a strong desire to remain in the house for many years to come. With the primary suite located upstairs, they recognized that navigating the stairs could eventually become a challenge. To prepare for the future, they envisioned transforming the first-floor bathroom into a comfortable, accessible, and beautifully updated space – one that would allow them to continue enjoying the home they love safely and comfortably for years ahead. U N I V E R S A L D E S I G N O T H E R REXFORD DESIGN SERVICES SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA Designed for a young family with two small children, this project adds a wheelchair-accessible detached ADU to relieve a very small three-bedroom home. With both parents working from home, the ADU provides a quiet, dedicated workspace with a fully accessible kitchen and bathroom. It functions as a comfortable, fully equipped guest suite for grandparents and friends and is planned for future use as a live-in residence or rental. A long, gently sloped concrete ramp threads through the client's raised bed garden, creating a safe, seamless connection between the main house and the ADU.
