RETAILOBSERVER.COM NOVEMBER 2026 36 O n Wednesday September 23, 2026, The Nation's Top Tech was crowned at the PSA Convention in Williamsburg, VA. The contest was sponsored by the National Service Alliance who supplied the prize money and trophies for the winners. A big thank you to the National Service Alliance for their sponsorship. During the convention, 14 service technicians from all parts of the country competed in The John Stanton Nation's Top Tech Contest. During the competition, the technicians were assessed on several aspects of completing a service call in a customer's home. The service call was based on an LG front load washer that would not heat in the sanitary cycle. The areas of assessment during the service call were customer relations skills, proper use of hand tools and test equipment, use of tech sheets and wiring schematics, use and understanding of diagnostic modes, total time to complete the service call, and a general appliance knowledge quiz. Contestants were awarded points based on their ability to demonstrate their proficiency in the above disciplines with a total of 100 points being the top score. At the awards banquet on Wednesday night of the convention the top three highest score winners were announced. Second Runner-up was Dylan Baxter from Martins Appliance with a score of 78 points, First Runner-up went to Brandon Marshall from Rockbridge Appliance Repair with a score of 85 points. And the winner of THE NATION'S TOP TECH for 2026 is George Haithcock from GH Appliance Repair with a score of 94 points. George's total was the highest ever achieved in the competition. All winners received a cash award and a trophy to recognize their accomplishments. These awards were presented by PSA's John Wilkins, on behalf of National Service Alliance, the contest sponsor. $500.00 went to The Nation's Top Tech, $300.00 to First Runner-up and $200.00 to the Second Runner-up. A special thanks to Dan Wood & Christopher Bottums from LG for judging and supplying product for the contest. It was the fourth year in a row LG supplied the product used during the competition.
