ACColades by KRIS RIEDELL , MBA, Vice President of Human Resources Volunteer Service Department Hurricane Season is Here "The miracle is not that we do this work, but that we are happy to do it." -Mother Teresa As you know, the recent past history of hurricanes that have hit Florida were devastating and stressful for many people, especially for individuals with special needs, including people suffering with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders. We at Alzheimer's Community Care are again in partnership with Palm Beach County, Emergency Operations Center, Palm Beach County Health Department, and others by Volunteering at the Special Needs Shelter at Palm Beach 25 Central High School, in Wellington: 8499 Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida. ACC is specifically helping with Alzheimer's/Dementia Specific individuals and their caregivers. We are reaching out to our volunteers and making an appeal to the community to aid in this mission by being an Emergency Shelter Special Needs volunteer. Volunteers will be assisting alongside Mary Barnes, President & CEO, Family Nurse Consultants & other caring members of our staff to serve our population in time of evacuation due to an emergency. Alzheimer's Community Care will provide the proper training, identification and travel passes that volunteers will need during this crucial time. We need your help! Please consider helping: shifts are pre, during or post emergency. ALZHEIMER'S COMMUNITY CARE / SUMMER 2013
