The new 44,000-square-foot store holds more than 70,000 specialty food items, including 3,000 wines, 300 craft beers, and 200 coffee and tea varieties, plus it features a restaurant. A third store is slated to open in Richmond, Va., later this year. distributor KeHE Expands Natural Food Store Business KeHE Distributors has begun its strategic alliance with the Independent Natural Food Retailers Association. The relationship allows KeHE to become the wholesale partner of natural food stores operating under about 30 different retail banners in the Northeast. Additionally, the partnership adds scale to KeHE's rapidly growing natural food store business and expands its product assortment. supplier Callie's Charleston Biscuits Book Tour Carrie Morey, founder of Callie's Charleston Biscuits, will be spending the weeks before Thanksgiving on a 10-city tour for her new cookbook. She'll be traveling in the Biscuit Mobile, a used Winnebago purchased for the tour featuring a wrap of the company logo and sponsors, which include Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Morey's first cookbook, Callie's Biscuits & Southern Traditions—Heirloom Recipes from Our Family Kitchen, features more than 75 recipes, including her seven varieties of biscuits as well as maple pork, roasted chicken, blueberry-peach cobbler and chess pie. Her company produces up to 180,000 biscuits a year as well as a range of specialty food items, such as pimento cheese, jams and grits. volume retail Giant Eagle Opens Market District Store Inspired by the open-air markets of Europe, the Giant Eagle supermarket chain has opened its first Market District food store—a 94,000-square-foot culinary, dining and shopping concept—in northeast Ohio. The new store features a full produce section featuring domestic, specialty and regionally grown fruits and vegetables, including 120 organic varieties. It also offers a gourmet burger station, a cheese shop with more than 400 domestic and imported cheeses, sushi, a beverage bar, sweets shop and curbside express online grocery delivery. distributor United Natural Foods Inks New Agreement with Associated Food Holdings United Natural Foods, Inc., is now the primary wholesale natural grocery distributor for the Associated Foods Holdings chain of more than 250 independently operated supermarkets in the New York metropolitan area.
