This year's event, which takes place December 6th and 7th, offers access to nearly two-dozen structures decorated for the holidays, and includes refreshments. early three decades ago, Monterey's first Christmas in the Adobes N featured a few festively decorated historic buildings. Community members so enjoyed the event that they asked organizers to expand the family friendly, self-guided adobe tour. For the 29th presentation this December 6 and 7, nearly two-dozen adobes and structures will feature sparkling lights and holiday embellish- ments. Folk dancers will teach fandango in the Custom House and bag- pipers will play at the Stevenson House. Participants from the Los Niños welcome guests during this year's holiday festivities, as will the newly restored San Carlos Cathedral, Mayo Hayes O'Donnell Library, De La Torre Adobe and more. Event attendance has jumped in recent years, partly because organiz- ers shifted to a Friday and Saturday night schedule. That attracts more local families and out-of-town guests, and the new Gold Pass extends a discount to those attending both nights.
