level without the expense and disruption of a full foundation replacement. To begin the installation, rugged steel piers are mechanically screwed into the soil using small construction equipment. The piers are installed to appropriate depths and capacities, preventing any future settlement. Heavy-duty steel foundation brackets are connected to the helical piers and attached to the foundation's footing. The weight of the structure is then carefully transferred from the original unstable soils, through the piers, to competent soils or limestone, ensuring permanent stabilization and an opportunity to lift the structure back to level. Completed There are several advantages to utilizing Helical Piers, including the fact that they can be installed year-round. Helical Piers' round shafts have a high resistance to bending under high pressure. Helicals also have a long lifespan using galvanized steel that is resistant to corrosion. Helical Piers are also below-grade solutions, meaning they aren't visible after installation. Perhaps one of the best benefits of utilizing Helical Piers is the fact that Foundation Supportworks offers a lifetime, transferable warranty on the product. In addition, L.R.E. offers a warranty on its workmanship for products installed such as Helical Piers. With hydraulic cylinders connected to each pier, now placing the foundation on stable footing, the façade is lifted to level. The Helical Piers had eight- to 10-foot lead sections and were installed to 14-foot depths. The Helical Piers were installed on 4.5 centers to achieve a design working load of 20 kips (20 thousand pounds of pressure) each bracket. Upon completion, L.R.E. encapsulated the retrofit brackets and tops of the Helical Piers into the new footer and foundation. The detail of the footer also consisted of doweling into the existing footer and floor slab. Once L.R.E. successfully installed Helical Piers the façade was stabilized and lifted, and the renovation of Westminster Bradenton Manor could be completed.
