GEORGE RODRIGUE

he highly talented and extremely generous ar tist George Rodrigue, known for his famous Blue Dog
paintings, passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. I remember when the first Carmel
gallery opened, and how much fun it was to enjoy the playfulness of this amazing creation known as the
Blue Dog. His paintings are capable of making people think, smile and laugh, just as George did.
Our hear tfelt sympathies go out to his wife, Wendy, his two sons, Jacques and André, and all those who
had the pleasure of knowing him.
George's ar tistic successes allowed him to raise millions of dollars for charity over the years, and the
George Rodrigue Foundation of the Ar ts continues onward through the leadership of Jacques.
George was a friend to many in our community and enjoyed painting here. He will be missed.
