3
ive years ago, Kay and I seized a new
opportunity. is adventure called us to
leave a university we loved to begin anew
at a school called Carson-Newman College. What
a journey it has been!
So much has happened since I accepted the
presidency of this sacred place: healing, growth,
new academic programs, 68 renovation projects,
a name change, embracing 21st century
technologies, and the inauguration of our first
doctoral program. Indeed, it has been a season
of exciting change.
Some things, however, have not changed. Here's
one: We continue to help our students reach their
full potential as educated citizens and worldwide
servant-leaders, by integrating academic excellence
and Christian commitment within a caring
community. at will never change.
In this redesign of Journey, you will see how
Carson-Newman is growing as an institution,
in reputation, in academic offerings, and in its
mission of empowering a new generation to
impact their world for Christ regardless of their
career paths.
So, why not sit back, maybe with a warm cup
of coffee, and read why, aer five years, Kay
and I are still excited about this place called
Carson-Newman University.
Enjoy! e best is yet to be!
From the President
