Not long ago they had a customer who wanted a left-hand, straight English-style stock on one of their EVO field models. In this case, they actually had that exact combination on a gun in their warehouse and were able to deliver it to the customer right away. I don't know of any other maker who, at this price point, offers as many variations on the theme or custom options as does Caesar Guerini. A strong point of Caesar Guerini shotguns has always been their blend of Old World craftsmanship with state-of-the art processes that ensure precision-engineered internal parts and exceptional fit and finish. The result, whether in field or clay target models, is a combination of classic beauty and high performance. Constant improvement, however, is another mantra of the company and that's especially evident in the leading-edge innovations found in their competition guns, from their multi-axis DTS adjustable combs and adjustable ribs to their DTS Kinetic Balancer system. While these high-tech features may not mean much to the hunter, they can directly benefit wingshooters. Caesar Guerini sub-gauge sporting clays models feature 30 or even 32-inch barrels. Seeing how balanced these target guns were, Guerini developed 30-inch, lightweight field barrels for their game guns, making their 28-gauge field model, in my view, one of the most balanced, smoothest swinging upland guns I've had the pleasure to shoot. While not ideal in thick grouse or woodcock cover, those two extra inches make a significant difference in taking out that whippy feeling often found in lightweight, short barreled, small-gauge shotguns. Give it a try, and you'll see what I mean. B arnsley Resort, like Caesar Guerini, puts a premium on customer service and has a raft of options to satisfy just about every guest. You can stay in charming but luxurious cottages, enjoy a round on a Tom Fazio- designed golf course, relax in the spa, go fly fishing or explore the resort's historic past on horseback, not to mention its exceptional hunting and shooting opportunities. My suggestion is to grab someone dear to you and head to Barnsley Resort for a few days. You may even come up with your own love story, and if so, I'm confident, it will have a happy ending.
