" " Bright and foral and thoroughly delicious ➊ ➋ JOIA ALL NATURAL SODA Orange, Jasmine & Nutmeg A COMBINATION OF ORANGE, JASMINE, AND NUTMEG is far from the flavor profile consumers expect to find in the beverage aisle, but this Minnesota producer wasn't striving for familiar when creating the Joia line. The soda is less sweet and carbonated than traditional sodas, giving it a light, layered, and refreshing taste—plus a low calorie count, at 60 calories per 12-fluid-ounce bottle. Each of the six varieties in the line features a blend of fruits, herbs, and spices, with no artificial flavors, preservatives, high-fructose corn syrup, caffeine, or sodium. Co-founder Carleton Johnson says even though the flavors are unusual and complex, the recipes stop short of incorporating herbs or spices that are too exotic and "so far out there that people don't want to taste it." And tasting is essential, Johnson says, because once people do, they're sold. Suggested retail price: $1.69/12 fluid ounces.
