FROM TOP: CHESWICK PHOTOGRAPHY; COURTESY MIKE ZUKERMAN/AIRPOWER FOUNDATION A AS MANY OF US SPEND TIME with family and friends during the holiday season, it is especially important to reflect on those who allow us the freedom to do that: our troops and vet- erans. Veterans Day is Tuesday, Nov. 11, but at American Airlines, we firmly believe we should support those who serve — or who have served — year-round. This summer, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, hosted the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) AirVenture Air Show, billed as the "World's Greatest Aviation Celebration." American became the first airline to partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration and pre - sented a special salute to Vietnam veterans at the event. We also flew 114 of them to Washington, D.C., on a special flight to see the me- morial built in their honor, as well as other important sites as part of the celebration. And for the 12th consecutive year, we hosted the American Airlines Sky Ball. This incredible event, which was held on Oct. 25 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Air- port, brings together members from every branch of the military, Medal of Honor recipients, wounded warriors and other dis- tinguished guests in an American Airlines hangar-turned-ballroom. In the past four years, Sky Ball has raised more than $4.5 million for military-support organizations and events, in- cluding Snowball Express, a program serving children and spouses of fallen soldiers, and the Gary Sinise Foundation, which builds homes for our nation's most severely wounded veterans. Our pilots and flight attendants generously donate their time for Snowball Express flights, and employees from throughout the airline volunteer on their days off to help serve the families that the event honors. But our support doesn't stop there. We have held a longtime partnership with the United Services Organization (USO) to provide support for military members and their families. We also support Air Compassion for Veterans, which assists veterans, military members and their families in reaching medical care and rehabilita- tion services. American also proudly provides Honor Flights to veterans, allowing them to fly to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials that recognize their service. Turn to page 104 to learn more about how American's employees are working together to support our military and veterans. And learn more about how you can support the troops at aa.com/joinus. On behalf of the entire American family of 100,000 employees, thank you for flying with us today. We look forward to seeing you on a flight again soon.
