Welcome to the National Geographic Learning Catalogue 2015 Why do we learn English? From our very youngest learners to those with more academic and professional ambitions there is one thing they have in common – aspiration. Through learning English our students hope to achieve a goal, whether that be to pass an exam, to communicate across the globe or to improve professional opportunities. But aspirations don't stop at learning English and neither should our English Language Teaching classes and materials stop with language. Aspiration encompasses a desire to improve not only our own opportunities but those of the communities and world we live in. At National Geographic Learning we take this responsibility to serve students' and teachers' aspirations very seriously. That's why you'll find our materials go beyond teaching English and give fuel to the aspirations we all harbour. That's why, through National Geographic texts, videos, photography and explorers, our materials naturally speak to those aspirations. That is why partnering with TED Talks (page 7) is a natural alliance for us through their slogan 'ideas worth spreading'. And that's why we aspire to bring you the best in ELT materials in whatever medium they are delivered. We hope you enjoy browsing this catalogue and seeing the potential in these materials. The team at National Geographic Learning Who is National Geographic Learning? In 2011, Heinle, part of Cengage Learning, created a strong relationship with the National Geographic Society and became National Geographic Learning. Whilst the name has changed, the reputation Heinle created for quality ELT materials endures and is further strengthened by the National Geographic mission and material. This combination ensures materials that are high-quality, innovative and inspiring whilst opening up our classrooms to the world around us.
