In a league
of her own
In June, Carson-Newman head softball coach
Vickee Kazee-Hollifield was inducted into the
South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame during the
conference's annual banquet in Asheville, N.C.
Kazee-Hollifield became the 12th Eagle inducted to
the hall, joining several of her former players.
"It means so much," Kazee-Hollfield said. "When
you get something like that, it's just a reflection on
our softball program. I so appreciate the honor, but
it comes back to the ladies who I coached and the
flavor of the competition we had within our own
conference."
Last season also resulted in the head coach earning
her 1,000th-career victory. She is the conference's
first coach to reach the milestone, and only the sixth
to do so in Division II.
This spring, the 1983 alumna begins her 30th
season. Her career record stands at a jaw-dropping
1,025 wins, 346 losses, and 1 tie.
