hen Conrad Sanchez of Conrad Asturi Studios star ts a new project, he considers ever ything from
architecture to interiors to existing landscapes.
"I usually have the whole vision of how I want the house to feel—the textures, what the furniture's going to
look like, the floors, the cabinets…I have really star ted taking the hands-on approach," he says.
That attention to detail has earned the Modesto-based designer several Monterey Peninsula projects, and he
recently opened a satellite office in Carmel to keep up with demand. This spring, he'll also release a line of upscale
outdoor furniture together with Summit Furniture.
Whether he's designing a home around an oak tree or building walls of windows that open to stylish open-air
living spaces, Sanchez enjoys the inspiration he finds in Carmel and Pebble Beach.
"The weather, the trees, the ocean, the quality of architecture downtown..." he says, "Everybody gets it. People
here get good design."
