Although less developed this region is known for spectacular and rugged landscapes as well as diverse and vibrant cities. Evergreen Tours also operates our new Emerald class river cruise ships here, with all the inclusions you expect on your holiday, and with a special focus on the dining specialties of the region and the included off–ship experiences. In each town or city, join your local guide for a walking or driving tour, with personal whisper headsets so you will never miss out on information, even if you are capturing a special moment on your camera away from the group. In Budapest, be welcomed on board and enjoy the night lights of this beautiful city, before sailing to Kalocsa where you are treated to a traditional Puszta horse show. Cruise the spectacular Iron Gates where the river meanders through the mountains along the Romanian border, then visit the former seat of the Bulgarian emperors at Veliko Tarnovo, with its striking views and rocky outcrops. Visit the town of Silistra then transfer to Bucharest the home of the former tyrant Nicolae Ceausescu, whose presence can still be felt today in Europe's largest building, the Palace of the Parliament. Your Cruise Director and local guides will ensure a seamless and unforgettable journey into the former communist countries which are now open for us all to visit.
