136 Day 1 Arrive Boston Welcome to the USA! On arrival at Boston Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Boston is one of America's oldest and most historic cities and is a unique blend of traditional charm and contemporary vitality providing ample opportunities to explore. One of the highlights of a trip to this region is the opportunity to see the fall or autumn colours that burst to life as the seasons change. In the coming days we'll explore regions that are renowned for producing the most vibrant fall foliage in the country. Overnight Stay: Hilton Downtown Day 2 Boston – Bar Harbor HD (FB,HD) Head to the picturesque coastal region of Bar Harbor. Famous for its rocky and rugged coastline, migrating whales and bounty of lobsters, Bar Harbour is a favourite getaway for people from all over the world. You're Invited: See the famous Great Maine Lumberjack Show and watch the thrilling lumberjack sports of wood chopping and sawing, tree climbing, axe throwing, and log rolling! Tonight dine on the local specialty, a traditional Lobster Bake. Two Night Stay: Bar Harbor Grand Hotel Day 3 Bar Harbor – Acadia National Park (CB) Visit the beautiful Acadia National Park, one of the USA's most visited National Parks. Drive the scenic Park Loop Road that reveals the parks raw nature, rugged beauty and autumn colours. Board a traditional carriage for a relaxing horse and carriage ride through the woods. You're Invited: Join Captain John aboard his traditional lobster boat and experience the life of a Maine Lobsterman. Day 4 Bar Harbor – Bethel – Sunday River (CB,D) Travel to the ski resort of Sunday River. You're Invited: Join an expert guide to go in search of the iconic moose. This region is renowned for having large populations of moose and it is said that around here the moose outnumber the humans! This is a forested region where the trees explode with the colours of autumn making this is a spectacular journey. Travel through Grafton Notch State Park, stop at the Artist's Covered Bridge, Screw Auger Falls, and Umbagog Lake. Keep your eyes peeled for moose as your guide helps you capture these powerful creatures with your camera. Overnight Stay: Grand Summit Resort Day 5 Sunday River – White Mountains – North Conway (FB) Continue to the spectacular White Mountain National Forest, another region renowned for the riot of colour displayed in the fall foliage. Pass by the grand Mount Washington Resort and continue to the Cog Railway. Board the world's first mountain climbing train up one of the steepest railroad tracks in North America to the top of Mt Washington. Overnight Stay: North Conway Grand Hotel Day 6 North Conway – Stowe (FB,D) Continue through New England soaking up the scenery. You're Invited: Arrive at Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks and be taken to the sugarhouse to learn about the art of maple sugaring followed by maple syrup tastings. Arrive at the famous Trapp family lodge where you will spend the next two nights. You're Invited: Take a journey through the von Trapp family's history and hear how they fled Austria and became famous through their music which inspired the movie "The Sound of Music". Two Night Stay: Trapp Family Lodge Day 7 Stowe tasting tour (FB) Explore this town on a tasting tour. Visit Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, sample the World's Best Cheddar at Cabot Cheese, try locally made Apple Cider and taste chocolates at Lake Champlain Chocolates. Take a gondola ride to the top of Vermont's highest peak. Day 8 Stowe – Berkshire Hills – Pittsfield HM (FB,HL) Head to the award winning Simon Pearce Restaurant which was originally established as a glassblower's café. Enjoy a delicious lunch, then wind through the scenic countryside of the Berkshires. Overnight Stay: Crowne Plaza Pittsfield Day 9 Pittsfield – Newport (FB) Make our way to Newport. Known as the playground for the wealthy, Newport is famous for housing opulent mansions. Visit one of the most renowned and lavish mansions of them all, The Breakers. Finish with Newport's attractive ten mile drive which loops around the coastal tip revealing a spectacular coastline. Overnight Stay: Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina Day 10 Newport – Martha's Vineyard – Cape Cod (FB,D) Travel to Woods Hole and catch the ferry across to the island of Martha's Vineyard which is known for being an affluent summer colony. Be guided around the island before taking the ferry back to the mainland. Overnight Stay: Sea Crest Beach Hotel Day 11 Cape Cod – Boston (FB,D) Cape Cod is continually shaped by ocean currents and is a windswept land of sandy beaches with compelling natural beauty. Make our way along the cape to the town of Chatham before heading back towards Boston. Here you will be joined by a local guide for a walk along the Freedom Trail. Overnight Stay: Hilton Downtown Day 12 New England Discovery 7 Night Cruise (FB,D) This morning farewell your Tour Director and transfer to the pier to board your luxurious cruise ship and check into your comfortable Outside Stateroom (upgrade to Balcony Stateroom additional expense) on the luxurious Holland America Cruise Ship ms Veendam and settle-in for a 7 night voyage through New England and the St Lawrence River. Day 13 Bar Harbor – Maine (FB,L,D) Sail north along the US Atlantic Coast through New England to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Take in the raw coastal scenery, grand mansions and immaculate gardens. Ashore you can choose to visit beautiful Acadia National Park or just walk the streets of town. Day 14 Halifax – Nova Scotia (FB,L,D) Depart the USA and enter the waters of Canada as you sail along the coast of New Brunswick. Arrive into Halifax this morning and spend the day docked in one of the world's most beautiful natural harbours. Explore this fascinating and historic city on your own or perhaps take an optional tour to delightful Peggy's Cove, which is possibly the most photographed village in Canada (shore excursions at own expense).
