RETAILOBSERVER.COM JUNE 2015 30 M iele Dishwashers are known to offer superb cleaning performance in a quiet and energy efficient manner and with the launch of 29 new dishwashers in their Generation 6000 series, Miele is offering consumers those features and so much more. With the promise of "immerbesser" this new line of dishwashers allows users to avoid unnecessary water use when so many across America are dealing with drought conditions. ENERGY EFFICIENT When it comes to cleaning performance, Miele leads the field, all the while achieving top energy efficiency ratings through the combination of an electronically controlled commercial-grade pump and spray arm alternation. This feeds water alternatingly to the middle or the top and bottom spray arms respectively using varying pressure levels. This limits the water usage to only 3.2 gallons and ensures the thorough and gentle cleaning of dishware. The confidence that a Miele dish- washer will thoroughly clean even the most soiled dishes also allows the user to skip pre-rinsing saving additional time and money. REMARKABLE GENERATION 6000 DESIGN Particularly striking designs, including the slender stainless-steel trim along the upper edge of the door, represent a signature feature which seamlessly ties in the new dishwashers with Miele's other Generation 6000 built-in appliances. Depending on individual models, the front panels are available in CleanTouchâ„¢ Steel, white, black or custom panel ready. Smart features such as the FlexiTimer allow users the convenience to decide when to start or finish a program cycle. Extra economical and extra dry options go a long way toward meeting individual cleaning and finishing needs. Users will value features like BrilliantLight, the 3D cutlery tray and sound emissions as low as 38 dBa ('Extra quiet' program). KNOCK2OPEN A highlight available on fully integrated Diamond and Lumen models is the Knock2Open door opening system, patents pending. By tapping twice on the machine front, the door of the Miele dishwasher, otherwise incognito behind a handleless cabinet panel, opens silently. The door glides open automatically as far as the ajar position and can then simply be pulled fully open. The machine only reacts to tapping on the front of the door. The door never opens unprompted as this technology is able to differentiate between tapping on the door, the countertop or on neighboring kitchen units. This way, the new dishwashers from Miele blend in seamlessly with modern kitchens without handles. The door is entirely without a handle and the machine front remains free from fingerprints. As fully integrated models do not have any display visible from the outside, it can be difficult to monitor programs during operation. With Generation 6000, Miele offers TimeControl on selected models, a feature which makes the program countdown time visible at a glance*. This involves the use of 4 LEDs on the control panel along the door edge. These are automatically switched on when a cycle starts and are switched off in succession, one after the other, until only one remains lit at around 20 minutes to the end of the program. The end of a cycle is obvious when AutoOpen drying automatically opens the door. Another unique feature available in the Diamond series is the 'touch on metal' user interface: a stainless-steel control panel with high-end minimalistic appeal and a two-line display with white characters on a black background.
