The Academy of Risk Management and Insurance at Saint Joseph's University The Insurance Society of Philadelphia is comprised of more than 200 member companies in one of the fastest-growing industries in the region. To meet a clear need for designated insurance programs and advanced academic training, the Haub School established the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance in 2006 to support these specializations within its department of finance. The Academy, chaired by James J. Maguire '58, founder of Philadelphia Insurance Companies, is governed by a board of industry CEOs and senior executives who provide direction as well as financial support – such as an endowed chair honoring Brian Duperreault of ACE Insurance. As a result, the Academy is able to support students through scholarship aid, counseling and placement, and is among the many reasons the Haub School was ranked the number one part-time MBA and graduate business program in the Philadelphia area by U.S. News & World Report.
