OUT OF AFRICA WILDLIFE PARK If an authentic African safari sounds like the ultimate in high adventure, then head to Camp Verde, Arizona, for an unforgettable visit to Out of Africa Wildlife Park…just 90 minutes north of central Phoenix. It's not a zoo or a circus, but rather a natural wildlife habitat where owners, Dean and Prayeri Harrison, have adopted a very unique, respectful way of interacting with hundreds of wild-by-nature animals. This 104- acre park replicates African Bush country, which is native to many of the exotic creatures who live here. What makes Out of Africa so special is the carefully-nurtured human/animal relationship developed from the animal's point of view. This approach is evident in all of the interactive shows you'll watch and the natural, spacious habitats you'll visit. Everything here is designed to stimulate natural behavior in the animals, revealing their true instincts, intellect and feelings. At the Tiger Splash show, the staff interacts with the majestic tigers as they "hunt" colorful toys in a predatory/prey relationship. It's amazing how fast and agile these powerful cats are on land, but even more so when you see how high they leap and how well they swim while tracking down their toy prey. Visitors to the Giant Snake show can pet or hold a giant anaconda and a huge python. Grizzly bears and laughing hyenas thrill audiences during the Wonders of Wildlife show. Hitch a ride on the African Bush safari, where park experts narrate as they drive visitors through the African-like natural habitats of giraffe, zebra, antelope, and so many more. Hop a tram or just walk through the Wildlife Preserve, where, from photo platforms, you can photograph unobstructed pictures of lions, tigers, wolves, jaguars, panthers, and more. Some of the best photos come during the Predator Feed, when staff members heave 800 pounds of raw food to the hungry carnivores. From rhinos to lemurs, ostriches to watusi, it's all natural – no tricks, no training. It's like nothing you've ever seen. For more information, call 928-567-2842 or visit www.outofafricapark.com.
