The SupplySide West trade show and conference takes place October 4 to 8 at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. Organizers expect at least 14,000 atten- dees and about 1,200 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. Attendees work in manufacturing, purchasing, distribu- tion, research and development, quality control, and supply chain management. The event focuses on supplying ingredi- ents and other products to the dietary supplement, personal care, and sports nutrition industries. Education Educational opportunities kick off with a 2-day GMP training course for auditors, manufacturers, packagers, QC/QA personnel, suppliers, distribu- tors, and technical professionals work- ing in the dietary supplement industry. The course runs Tuesday and Wednes- day from 8:00 to 5:00 and topics include batch production recordkeep- ing, botanical verification testing, and FDA regulations for dietary supple- ment filings. On Wednesday from 9:00 to 5:00, the Clean Label Summit covers topics related to clean-label dietary supple- ments and ingredients, including R&D challenges, supply chain concerns, consumer trends, and marketing strategies. The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Botanical Con- gress runs 9:00 to 5:00 on Saturday. Topics include, US and global supply chain strategies, regulatory issues and trends for legal cannabis, financial trends affecting the 2017 supplement industry, and myths about the herbal supplement industry. In addition, you can register for any of 13 BASF-sponsored workshops held Wednesday and Saturday. Topics of the 3-hour workshops include weight management, joint support, probiotics, and sports nutrition supplements, among others.
