August 2016 SMOKESHOP 69 The completely revised Fourth Edition of The Ultimate Cigar Book (Skyhorse Publishing, 390 pages, hardcover, $24.99) by noted pipe, cigar, and spirits author Richard Carleton Hacker has sold out in less than a year. To meet ongoing demand, a new second printing of this best-selling cigar book, featuring even more photos than the first printing, is slated for the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show, where the author will be in attendance, for those who wish to have their copies autographed. Due to demand, a completely updated Fourth Edition made its debut at last year's IPCPR Trade Show and again became the best- selling cigar book in the world. "The ongoing demand and sales of my book is proof that, in spite of all the government turmoil and anti-smoking rhetoric, cigar smoking consumers still want good solid information about the cigars they smoke," said Hacker. "And that is what I have devoted my writing career to giving them." Written in the author's easy-to-read and conversational style, The Ultimate Cigar Book describes how cigars are made, how to select the "perfect" cigar, describes the ritual of cigar smoking, its history, and how to pair whiskies with cigars. The book, in fact, contains everything a cigar smoker would want to know, including a CigarSpeak dictionary and a listing of every major (and some minor) cigar brands in the world, including cigars from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Cuba, and even China. When first published in 1993, The Ultimate Cigar Book helped fuel the massive cigar boom of the 1990s. It went on to be reprinted in three revised editions in the United states and Germany until going out of print, as the author devoted his time to contributing editor duties for luxury lifestyle magazines including Playboy and Robb Report as well as speaking engagements. Tobacconists who wish to stock the new fourth edition of The Ultimate Cigar Book can contact their distributors or Skyhorse Publishing directly. Dupont has reinterpreted its famed diamond head pattern with the launch of the extensive Fire Head series of lighters, writing instruments, and leather goods. The company pays tribute to fire drawing inspiration from the universal symbol for fire, the triangle. Made of six triangular facets, the Fire Head signature engraving is "velvety to the touch, contrasting superbly with the geometrical precision of its motif," says the Paris-based luxury manufacturer. Three new models of the company's elegantly engineered iconic lighter, featuring a soft flame, Fire Head pattern, and palladium finish are now offered: Black Lacquer, Palladium, and Yellow Gold.
