CAPITOLCOMMITTEE UPDATES Development Committee Update The Development Commiee, a group of members selected annually fromthe Capitol Commiee, is chargedwith assisng in bringing in new organizaons and guiding the vision of theU.S. CapitolHistorical Society. The Development Commiee has connued to progress towards our $1,200,000 fiscal year goal. Over the course of the past year, we have brought in a total of $988,000. We are excited for the final leg of our fundraising marathon and have high hopes that we will reach our goal! AndreaWilkinson: Takeda Pharmaceucals Development Committee Spotlight Jim Morrill, co-chair of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society's Development Commiee, has proven himself to be a powerful fundraising force this fiscal year. New to the commiee this year, he stepped up to fill the role of co-chair and has helped garner many new member- ships for the Society. Morrill rered this January from his post as Vice President and Director of Federal Relaons for the Lincoln Financial Group, a tle he had held since November 1994. Prior to joining Lincoln, he served as the Staff Vice President of Government and Community Relaons for the Sco Paper Company from1980- 1994. From 1979-1980, he was the Director of the House of Representaves Liaison for the Naonal Associaon of Realtors. Before joining the private sector, 54 THE CAPITOL DOME Morrill spent many years working in government: he served as staff assist- ant to the U.S. House Appropriaons Commiee, as legislave assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Legislave Affairs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and as district manager for Representave JimCollins of Dallas, Texas. Morrill's passion for the Capitol and all its history does not only stem from his me working in govern- ment—he also worked as a high school history teacher (and track coach) for four years.Morrill holds a B.A. in history from Tulane University and anM.S. in Govern- mental Administraon from the George Washington University. Morrill lives in Mclean, Virginia with hiswife. They have two children and just welcomed their fih grandchild. SUMMER 2012
