El Jefe is available in two varieties, Blanco and Reposado. According to El Jefe marketing, the former exhibits "pepper and agave initial taste with a hint of olive, spicy without heat, turning to a sweet citrus body with distinct agave flavor." The Reposado is aged in American oak, giving it hints of vanilla and a pleasant smoothness. "I think they are extremely well-balanced tequilas—not too sweet, not too spicy," Sanchez avers. "I'm very proud of what's in those bottles. Consumers have no idea what goes into getting a product to market and onto the table." Sanchez began by building relationships with local establishments like Carmel's Club Jalapeno and Vesuvio restaurants and the Jack Nicklaus Club. El Jefe is the official tequila of Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway and is a sponsor of Fresno-area, former Olympian and current WBC super lightweight champion boxer Jose Ramirez. Recently, the El Jefe brand has been added to the por tfolio of the nation's largest liquor distributor, Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits. Keep an eye out for both El Jefe and Ryan Sanchez. They are both poised to make a big splash in the business world.
