Out At Night D More than 770 USA Hockey volunteers, staff members and invited guests helped celebrate 75 years of growing the game in the United States during a gala event at the Broadmoor Hotel's International Center in Colorado Springs. Come USA Hockey Celebrates Its 75th Anniversary In Grand Style The event was a star-studded culmination of a yearlong celebration of USA Hockey's 75 years as well as a fitting celebration of the history of the organization that started out of Tom Lockhart's New York City apartment on Oct. 29, 1937. Highlighting the evening's program were special recognitions of several teams that set the gold standard in international competi- tion, including the 1960 and 1980 U.S. Men's Olympic Teams, the 1998 U.S. Women's Team, the 1996 World Cup of Hockey squad and the 2010 U.S. Sled Team that captured gold at the Vancouver Paralympics. iamonds may be a girl's best friend, but when it came to celebrating USA Hockey's diamond anni- versary, there was no doubt that hockey was the object of affection for the 770 guests at a gala event at the Broadmoor Hotel's International Center in Colorado Springs. Among the distinguished guests in attendance were representa- tives of each of the gold-medal winning teams, along with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, USOC head Scott Blackmun and Murray Costello of the International Ice Hockey Federation. After an evening of celebration, the USA Hockey staff and dedicated legion of volunteers returned to the business of hockey, and charting the course for the next 75 years.
