Tours has thought of ever ything. "Food, and the sense of taste can create or evoke memories and feelings of contentment and joy," says VP of Sales and Tour Chief Staci Beck Giovino, "and when you add in the senses of sight, smell, touch and sound, a food tour is an all-encompassing sensual experience." The tours accommodate small groups (of a minimum of 10 people) and include food tast- ings from six to seven eateries, along with a guided 3-hour walk featuring Carmel's historical, cultural and architectural attractions. Whether fresh off a walking tour or visit to one of the area's many biking and hiking trails or golf courses, weary muscles are in good hands here. The Spa at Pebble Beach features several treatments with men in mind, from facials to post-golf therapy. Along with a full-service salon, juice bar and café, the Spa at Pebble Beach offers several signature treatments created in- house, like the Lasapa Lelima Purification Treatment. Inspired by Monterey's indigenous Esselen tribe, this Native American cleansing ceremony incorporates locally grown sage and other plants as part of the healing scrub, wrap, and massage experience. An unforgettably romantic pampering experi- ence can be found at the rooftop Vista Blue Spa at the Monterey Plaza Hotel, where couples can enjoy one of three signature bath rituals in a pri- vate hydrotherapy suite overlooking the Monterey Bay. For an even more private experience, most spas, in concer t with a hotel's concierge, can put together a wide variety of custom in- room treatments. Speaking of concer ts, taking in live music has never been more romantic than at the Sunday jazz brunch buffet at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch in Carmel. Sipping Champagne at the rustic outdoor bar while softly gazing past a brilliant green meadow of grazing sheep to the faintly hissing whitecaps and Point Lobos in the distance is a sensory experience that is dis- tinctly Carmel. At night, Carmel's Sunset Center's busy and diverse performing arts calendar features the Monterey Symphony, whose March program includes the timeless romances "Romeo and Juliet" and "Westside Story." With the extensive and ever evolving roman- tic outings and options the Carmel area has to offer, it's easy to see why couples return year after year to celebrate special days or even sim- ply to recapture and celebrate their first visits to the Monterey Peninsula and make new mind- blowing memories. 154 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • W I N T E R 2 0 1 7 (Top) Van Gogh's Table is a special spot at the romantic Casanova Restaurant.
