Photo: Kelli Uldall C armel Valley is renowned for picturesque vistas, rustic charm and award-winning wine tasting rooms. To bring a vibrant touch to this pastoral setting, Joyce Vineyards has been busy leading the expansion of its business by acquiring the former Jan de Luz proper ty. Russell Joyce, winemaker and co-founder of Joyce Vineyards, along with his wife, Charlotte, and her sister, Rachel Beshoff, have been designing, con- structing, and developing the property, with the dream of establishing multi-generational roots in the village. In collaboration with Los Gatos-based Testarossa Winery, the trio trans- formed the property into three separate operations including the Joyce Vineyards Tasting Room, The Wine House, and the new Testarossa Winery Tasting Room. To house these businesses, the estate has been undergoing a renova- tion which Joyce calls a "farmhouse chic vibe," by combining distressed wood with modern, industrial accents. In addition to the tasting rooms and wine bar, the outdoor garden fea- tures recreational spaces including firepits and bocce ball courts, encour- aging visitors "to relax in an upscale atmosphere." The multi-faceted facility also plans to host regular events, like Food Truck Fridays, and act as a venue for special events and private dinners.
