crowds gather to eat, drink and help determine the winning dish. "The bouts have been a lot of fun," says Fisher, event founder and emcee, Tarpy's Roadhouse chef and former host of Destination America's The United States of Bacon. "All the chefs have done an awesome job, and they all seem to love it. Others are asking how they get invited to participate." The duels take place on the first Monday of each month, with KRML providing the music. The first battle (eggs) pitted Chef Tony Baker (Montrio) and Chef Fabrice Roux (Roux). French-born Roux won in a tiebreaker (a fierce game of cornhole determined the winner). In the second duel, Chef Tim Wood of Carmel Valley Ranch and Chef Jeremiah Tydeman of Alvarado Street Brewery and Grill rumbled over pork butts (won by Tydeman in a landslide, with newly elected Congressman Jimmy Panetta as one of the judges). The third battle saw Chef Jeremy Tummel (Stillwater Bar & Grill) beat Chef Jerry Regester (Santa Lucia Preserve) in an eight-armed skirmish over octo- pus (a tiebreaking Jenga match crowned Tummel).
