I n 1982, Carmel photographer Gary Geiger joined two buddies, Kurt Andersen and Jerry Hart, at a workshop in Virginia City, Nevada. The instructor noted that all three had graduated from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, and immediately dubbed the trio "The Brooks Brothers." As do all good sobriquets, the name stuck, and so did the men's friendship and professional connection. "We had been going on annual trips together for a few years at that point," Geiger says. The Brothers visited several US locations before venturing further. "Our first international trip was to San Miguel Allende, Mexico," Geiger explains. "We haven't traveled in the US since." Since then, the three have visited Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, China, Portugal, Italy, Cambodia, Cuba, Canada, Vietnam and India. Each man takes a turn at destination and itinerary. These aren't typical tourist trips.
