I got this Roadster for my bir thday in July, 2011. My husband Layne was looking at electric cars and said, "Too bad they're so ugly." I told him about the Tesla. We went to the dealership at Santana Row in San Jose, on the agreement that we were there just to test drive it. The salesperson said to leave yourself some room on the freeway and step on the accelerator. Layne said, "I know what we said about just test driving, but we are so getting this car." It ended up being my bir thday present, and I got to pick out the color—Lightning Green. Honestly, I didn't like the car when we first got it home, but I love it now. I like how fast it accelerates—I took on a motorcycle on southbound Hwy. 1 where it merges into one lane and beat it. I also like how it decelerates when you take your foot off the accelerator. I rarely have to use the brakes. These were based on technology used by Lotus to create the superb Elise and it drives beautifully. The handling is very crisp, and every other car feels like a boat now. It took about two weeks before I stopped looking at gas stations. Now, I couldn't even tell you what gas sells for. There were only 2,000 made, so they're rare and I get lots of comments and questions about it. I've heard the resale value is good, but I'll never sell it. It fits me perfectly. 9 4 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • W I N T E R 2 0 1 7 KAY LUBANSKY C A R M E L • V E T E R I N A R I A N I got this Roadster for my bir thday in July, 2011.
