P.18 ~ PORTFOLIO > o u t w e s t a r t s h o w & s a l e OIL PAINTING ~ Karen Young K aren grew up in Texas on a work- ing ranch. Living on the ranch, there were always an abundance of horses to ride. Her love for horses was very strong and so was her love for sketching them. The transition from sketching to oil painting was quite natural. Over the years Karen studied art and refined her painting techniques. Karen's style is realism. As an award winning artist, Kar- en's flair for depicting the wild, natural beauty of horses is reflected in her paintings portraying their quite dignity, strength and beauty. While horses are featured in many of Karen's works, all animals are a source of inspiration and her paintings strive to offer a rare look into the inner workings of these beauti- ful yet often elusive animals, both domestic and wild. Living in Kalispell enables Karen to enjoy all the beauty Montana has to offer on a daily basis.
