After splitting the first two games of its series, CCHA plans to invite all alumni to the final CCHA Championship weekend, including the CCHA Awards, on March 21-23 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. "The CCHA has had a major impact on the national collegiate land- scape over the past 41 seasons," said CCHA Commissioner Fred Pletsch. "We're looking forward to engaging as many fans and former players, coaches and administrators to help make the final CCHA Championship weekend a celebration of the grand legacy of the league." The CCHA opted to dissolve in response to the shifting landscape of college hockey as teams plan to move to other conferences in 2013-14, includ- ing the Big Ten Hockey Conference and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. the U.S. Under-18 squad lost a heartbreaker in a shootout in the third and final game in Blaine, Minn. Captain Dani Cameranesi led the U.S. in scoring with two goals and an assist, and Grace Zarzecki and Jenny Ryan added three assists each. THEY SAID IT "Wood is good. Hockey is a game of feel … and I really believe that young hockey players should develop by using a wood stick." —Ed Olczyk, hockey dad, 16–year NHL veteran, NBC and Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster and 2012 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame inductee U.S. Runs The Table At Under-17 Five Nations Tournament The U.S. Under-17 Select Team captured the 2012 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament title with an unblemished 4-0-0 record, outscoring its opponents 20-6 in four games. "The term we came up with was 'relentless' and we were just that," said head coach Barry Smith. "Our work ethic was second to none, and when you combine talent with work ethic, that's tough to beat." The 20 players on the U.S. roster were selected based on their performances at the Select 16 Player Development Camp in Rochester, N.Y. They represented 12 different states, including five from Minnesota and three each from Michigan and Illinois. Meanwhile, the U.S. Under-18 Select Team finished in seventh place at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, which featured teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
