There's no better landmark that's em-
blematic of Toronto than Kensington
Market, a once predominantly Jewish
marketplace, the area subsequently
transformed into an Italian district,
then Portuguese, then Chinese and
then Jamaican, each of those cultures
leaving wonderful remnants by way of
food shops, stores, cafes and restau-
rants. What's left is a city block that's
like a kaleidoscope of Toronto's diver-
sity. Kensington Market is pedestri-
an-friendly and has a relaxed, bohemian
vibe with cheese emporiums, Mexican
cantinas and vintage stores.
