M I L L I N O I S M E D I C I N E | 41 Reunion Class Volunteers: Are you celebrating a reunion year soon? We're already planning for the College of Medicine 2018 reunion. If your graduation year ends in an 8 or 3, we want to hear from you. You can help us connect with lost classmates, plan your reunion celebration or reach out to classmates and let them know that you're returning for the celebration. HOST Program Volunteers: The HOST Program (Help Our Students Travel) is committed to helping match fourth-year medical students with alumni from across the United States as these students travel for residency placement interviews. Our alumni counsel from afar via phone or email correspondence. For more information email comHOST@uic.edu. Event Sponsors: This year, the College of Medicine will be planning events in suburban areas of Chicago to bring together alumni, community partners and donors to discuss opportunities to advance the mission of the college, UIC and UI Health. Event sponsors play an important part in making sure that we can host events in convenient locations and are sustainably funded. Admissions Interview Volunteers: The Office of Admissions is seeking to recruit volunteers to help interview medical school applicants and would volunteers provide students with a place to stay during the interview process as well as additional advice about the community and, if possible, the organization with which the student is interviewing. Even if you are unable to host a student in your home, there are alumni options to meet students for dinner or provide guidance and like your help and support. Volunteers help faculty and staff in interviewing prospective candidates for the 2017- 2018 academic year. Interviews take place on the Chicago campus but include prospective students for all of our campuses. For more information, contact recruitment and admissions counselor Garie Pierre-Louis at gariepl@uic.edu. IT ALL STARTS WITH A SINGLE SPARK Igniting the COM Ambassador Program ANY MEMBERS of the Illinois Medicine community support the vision for world- class medical education, research and health care that happens at the College of Medicine and UI Health. Whether individuals give their time or expertise to support a single program, department or broad college initiative, we are thankful for their dedication and efforts to share our story with our neighbors, colleagues and the public at large. Because of their dedication, we are able to spread the word that impassioned, innovative and inspired medicine happens here — it's always happened here. The College of Medicine Ambassador Program recognizes the efforts of these volunteers, advocates, amplifiers and promoters of the college's mission and values. There are many different ways for individuals to become involved as an Ambassador —as reunion class volunteers, HOST Program volunteers, event sponsors and admissions interview volunteers, just to name a few. Get involved as a COM Ambassador today! The College of Medicine Ambassador Program offers numerous ways for alumni and community members to participate in spreading the word about the inspired medicine that happens here. For more information about how to be involved with the Ambassador Program, or to learn more about our inaugural Ambassador Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 13, please contact the Office of Medical Advancement at (312) 996-4470 or medcomm@uic.edu.
